TO HEAR OR NOT TO HEAR?
Are you one of the many who have been frustrated with the sound system
in the sanctuary? Can't hear the choir when you sit on the
far
side? Too loud in the middle? The Council has voted
to set
up a Committee to plan some fund raising events to purchase the items
needed to improve our sound system. Joanne Schilling is
heading
up the committee and invites anyone interested in helping to plan some
fun events over the next year to contact her. Call her at

STEWARDSHIP
MISSION SUPPORT:
At Trinity, we provide local mission support in our 3rd Sunday special
offering for the Love Fund/ Food Pantry. We also support the Missions
of the ELCA through Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran World hunger. In
order to support these vital programs, you must designate OTHER on your
envelope and write in Lutheran World Relief or Lutheran World
Hunger. Designated areas of giving are listed on your
envelopes.
Designated
Giving
As indicated on your 2010 envelopes, if you
want to designate an area of giving other than our Current Expenses,
you should place the amount in Other and indicate the special
area. If you are in the Simply Giving program, you can
designate
giving on a monthly basis. At our annual meeting, the
congregation voted to remove ELCA General Fund from our budget. In
order to give to the Synod General Fund you must designate it on your
envelope every time. The areas of Designated Giving other
than
Current are: NW Synod ELCA General Fund, Lutheran World Relief,
Lutheran World Hunger Local: Parking Lot, Memorial Fund,
Organ
Fund, Building Fund, Vacation Bible School, Bible Camperships, Abuse
Shelter.
EDUCATION,
YOUTH AND

Calling
all high schoolers!!! You are invited to join us in reading
the
Bible. Usually we'll meet the first Wednesdays of the month from
6:30-8pm in the Trinity Room. HOWEVER, this month we will
meet on
the 22nd at Trinity's fire ring for a few games, s'mores and
planning. Hope to see you there. Invite your
friends.

The
Women's Bible Study has
completed their summer study and will not meet for the remainder of
August. The Max Lucado book we just finished was an
inspiration
and a joy, and so in October we will begin a new study written by
Lucado called In The Grip of Grace. Plan to join us the first
Wednesday in October.
Luther Point Bible
Camp (LPBC) in Grantsburg, is in the beginning phase of a capital
campaign to raise funds to increase and improved existing facilities.

Annual Women of the ELCA
Fall Retreat Treasures of the Heart is on September 20 at the Heartwood
conference Center and Retreat in Trego, WI. The speaker is Michelle
Rayburn and starts at 8:30am, ending at 2:30pm. Registration and
payment of $25.00 is needed by September 11. For more information, or

The
Women's Bible Study has completed their summer study and will not meet

Equal Exchange Coffee Program
sponsored by Lutheran World relief isl
now available here at Trinity. Check out the expanded
selection
of Equal Exchange coffee, tea and cocoa mix products made possible
through the support of W/ELCA. We now have whole coffee
beans, an
expanded selection of ground coffee as well as several types of tea and
cocoa. Cash is good or checks can be made payable to Trinity
Lutheran Church Women.
Please save your cancelled
stamps and drop them in the red box on the Welcome center.
FELLOWSHIP
9:30 A.M. SUMMER FELLOWSHIP
HOUR -
It is very important to the life of our congregation during the summer
months that we have maximum participation from both 8:30 am and 10:00
am worship attendees at our 30 minute Fellowship Hour at 9:30 am.
PLEASE COME FOR FELLOWSHIP at 9:30 am! ***The donations for coffee
Fellowship hour during the summer will be given to a Seminary student.
OUTREACH
Pure
Maple Syrup is available for purchase next to the coffee
display.
All proceeds go directly to Savior of All Ministries, the orphanage we
help to support in Haiti
Habitat
for Humanity needs volunteers to help finish the home for
Valerie Wing

Just a reminder; the Parish
Nurses
have all sorts of medical equipment for home use available for the
asking and for as long as you need. A list is on the Outreach
bulletin board in the Narthex. Just call ahead, a nurse will
meet
you at their office to fill your needs.
NEIGHBOR 2 NEIGHBOR
is a Thrift
Shop in the basement of the Birchwood Village Hall where clothing,
bedding, toys and household items can be obtained at no cost or with a
free will offering. At present the shop will be open Monday
and
Thursday afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. Additional
volunteers
are needed so that the shop can open more often. Please call
Morris Gillett 715-790-8328 with questions.
The
Birchwood area Food
Pantry
is located in the lower level of the Senior Center on 110 Euclid
Avenue. They are open from 1:30 4:30pm on the 1st
Monday
& from 1:30 6:00pm on the 3rd Monday of each month.

MUSIC
Thanks to all of our Surprise
Choir Directors this summer and to those who joined us to sing -- See
you next summer!
Trinity Choir Rehearsals will
begin Wednesday, September 1, at 7 pm, with the choir singing at the
September 19 service.

AREA
HAPPENINGS
The
British Literature Group is holding a Pancake Breakfast/Silent Auction
at Back to the Woodlands on Sunday, August 29 from 9 to Noon. All
proceeds go to student accounts to fund the trip to England in March.
Tickets can be purchased for Amanda Cherney or Karisa Scribner. More
information is posted on the bulletin board.

Do you and the
person you care for need a break? Check out the
new Respite
Care Program
at
the Birchwood Senior Center. Every Wednesday, from 9 am - 2
pm,
your loved one can enjoy various activities, exercise, snacks and a hot
lunch while you can spend a little time on yourself.
According to
Florence Evitch, Acting Director of the Senior Centers
Respite
Care Program, the program costs $20 with donations available to assist
in paying half of the cost if needed. Each respite visitor
has
a personal volunteer to work with them, one on one.

gift to your loved one as well as to yourself!
The
Birchwood
Area Food
Pantry is located in the lower level of the Senior Center

Meal Deliverers are desperately needed by the Birchwood
Senior
Center. If you can help with delivering meals even one day a

Deliverers
need to be available from 9 AM - noon.

work, at rest or retired with a current license who might consider
lending your special talent to the community as a Parish Nurse? The
Birchwood Parish Nurse Project would be delighted to have you join our
